for PSP 7.
I have, however, written variations that work with with PSP
6.

You will first need to download the image for this
tutorial.
You may download it HERE.
You
will need the Ulead Art Texture Plug-in. You can find it HERE
On the Ulead site, click on Free Downloads at the top of the page.
On the next page that comes up, click on Freeware (left side of page).
then click on Art Texture.Plugin
You will also need the Texturizer
Plug-in.

Your finished image will look something like this.

1. Unzip image and open in PSP.
2. Colors - Increase to
16 million.
3. Promote background to layer.
Image-Resize 50% then
sharpen.
4. Selections - Select All
5. Selections - Modify -
Transparent Color.
Chose White and 0 Tolerance.
You will notice all of the
black is selected now.
Leave this selected for the next several
steps.
6. Selections - Promote to Layer and rename this layer
"A".
7. Duplicate layer "A" and rename the duplicate layer "B".
8.
Turn off layer "B" and make layer "A" your active layer.
9. Effects -
Plug-ins - Ulead Effects - Art Texture
choose Edit then click on #5
(gold)then click OK
Looking at the default golds showing, chose the middle
one
on the bottom row. Then Click OK.
10. Make layer "B"
Active.
For PSP 7 Effects - Artistic Effects - Sepia - Age 100 years.
For
PSP 6 Flood fill with #4A0D05.
Now you may deselect.
11. On layer
palette, change the layer blend mode on layer "B"
to "Luminance". Then lower
the opacity to around 50.
12. Activate the promoted layer we started
with.
Flood fill with #E7DAB8.
13. Effects - Plug-ins - Texturizer
using these settings:
Sandstone - Scaling 100% - Relief 2 - Light Direction
Bot. Right
14. Layers - Merge - Flatten.
You can add your own
border, play around with different ulead
settings, even try some of your own
clear black and white images.
You might even want to try text and dings using
this technique.
Please Note: In experimenting, images with grays do not work
well.
